Adjusting Google Apps spam filters

Not receiving emails from some domains? They may be blacklisted as spammers by Backscatter. Check the blacklist here. To pass messages from this domain you need to add it to your approved senders list.

Adding to your approved senders list

  1. Sign into Google Apps admin at http://admin.google.com.
  2. Click Google Apps. Click Gmail and Advanced settings, Click the General Settings tab.
  3. Point to Spam and click the Configure button that appears.
  4. Type a name for the setting.
  5. In the Spam section click Edit or Add Another.
  6. Click Always allow messages from these addresses or domains.
  7. Point to an existing rule and click Edit to the right, or create a new one.
  8. Bypass spam filters for messages received from internal senders.
  9. Bypass spam filters for messages received from addresses or domains within these approved senders.
  10. Use existing list or create a new one. If you create a new list, give a description for the type of names you’ll put in this list. Or point to a list name and click Edit.
  11. Add people to the list. You can add by individual email address or domains. You may also delete names here, which could block the sender if it is considered a spammer.
  12. Check the option to Do not require sender authentication (not recommended). In this case, that's necessary.
  13. Click Save, then Add or save the setting.

In a similar way, you can prevent spam with the Block senders function (also in the admin-Gmail-Advanced settings). It works exactly the same as the spam whitelist, but in reverse.
