Three ways to switch to Mac

Apple Migration Assistant transfers all files from your PC – email settings, the entire history of messages, bookmarks, contacts and calendars, all music and photos, even the background wallpaper picture. You won’t have any Windows programs on your Mac but your past data is automatically configured for use in the new Mac apps. Learn more about obtaining Mac apps.

Migration Assistant is designed to run the very first time the computer is turned on, before you begin using the Mac. If you have already set up your email or created documents, they won't be integrated with files you move from the PC later. And this method requires your PC be in decent working order. Apple can help you transfer files from a PC when you purchase a new Mac at the Apple Retail Store. Creative Tech Support can help no matter where you buy your Mac.

Parallels Switch To Mac migrates your PC with your existing copy of Microsoft Windows and all your Windows programs and files. It's like taking your existing PC and placing it inside your Mac – two computers in one. Your Mac and Windows software can share files, but your email, contacts and calendars remain in Microsoft Outlook or whatever you've been using on the PC. Any Windows viruses or software issues you had on your PC carry over when you're running Windows on your Mac. But your Mac apps are unaffected.

We can help with this process, as well as eventually migrating data to the Mac apps. And you’ll eventually want to move to the Mac apps. It’s rather pointless to continue using the Windows apps on a Mac. After all, there's a reason you’re switching to Mac, right?

A final method involves transferring particular files from PC to Mac. You’ll need to configure email settings on the Mac, manually convert old messages, contacts and other data, and combine with your Mac data. This is the most time-consuming option, requiring the most technical skill. But it allows you to take data from a broken PC (or several PCs) and combine them with files you’ve already created on the Mac. Apple doesn’t offer this service, but Creative Tech Support can help. Talk to us. We can help you start off in the right direction.
